Somebody once wrote me, asking, “There are certainly a lot of teachers and students of A Course in Miracles on the market, but there has to be a thing that you've hooked into, or caught onto? Something that triggered a transformation or perhaps major healing. So, the thing that was it?”
“Trust,” I said.
Think of your life as it seems to be these days in terms of the story. Just how do we answer the question; “Who do I trust? Where do I believe my safety lies? How will I be sustained? Who's my source?” So once we talk about the last stage to the awakening being pure trust, it's simply about disengaging and withdrawing our faith and trust in many of these made-up concepts, beliefs and ideas in the world. acim bookstore It's a lot like building a big house of cards, stacking on a single card following the other. Then the good wind occurs and poof, it's just blown over. It can't even stand a little gust of wind. It's so frail. It's so temporary. It's so transitory; It was this sense of placing trust in the Spirit and withdrawing trust in everything else; all those issues that were identified and learned as worldly accomplishments. Why should we trust in those? Have they ever brought us lasting peace and happiness? Are they really trustworthy?It surely comes right down to the essence of who's my brother? Is it Spirit or matter? Is it Spirit or form? Furthermore how many of us have tried trusting people? Has anybody tried that one?So you're asking the question, “If someone dies or seems to be dying of starvation, what does that say about their mind?” Where this is heading is to the awareness that everything is mental.
What this awakening will show you is that everything is mental and that everything is a hallucination. That is an environment of ideas and what we call manifest reality, isn't reality at all. There's no distinction between thought and form. Jesus has to construct his whole workbook in A Course In Miracles on making the bond between thought and form. His lessons start out with, “Nothing I see means anything,” (W-1) and, “I have given everything I see all this is it's for me.” (W-2) Then, He works his way as much as number four, “These thoughts do not mean anything&rdquo ;.Now, He's speaing frankly about thoughts. First He's speaing frankly about perception, then about our thoughts, then He returns with lessons 5,6,7,8,9 ... perception, perception, perception, perception, perception ... and then number 10, “My thoughts do not mean anything.” You will see he's trying to melt everything together and show the last veil or stage of awakening, that will be trust.
The Holy Spirit uses time for you to teach us there is no such thing as time, to take us back compared to that timeless moment that's the gateway to eternity. He uses symbols to teach us they are all illusions and they are all equally meaningless. That's the way of operation of Holy Spirit. The Spirit has to work well with the mind to loosen the attachments from the investment in a myriad of things. What type of things do you spend money on, these days?
